Sailability crews tune into Marine Rescue radio training
A COMMUNITY grant has enabled volunteers from Sailability Port Macquarie to get up to speed and tune into the use of VHF radios.
The training has been hosted by Marine Rescue Port Macquarie thanks to more than $1500 in funding from Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.
Marine Rescue has been able to train Sailability crew members in VHF radio operations to enable them to be more effective in their on-water communications.
Sailability will also support Marine Rescue at this year’s New Year’s Day celebrations on the Hastings River.
Ten crew members have earned their qualifications. Sailability has more than 89 volunteers, and need more, and provide water craft experiences for more than 125 people living with disabilities each Wednesday.
